Hard to put into words
08/22/04
Well after reading countless posts from g-ham as he is known here now, I thought I might cue in and give the real scoop to how shooting is going since the last few days have been some of my most intensive from the character’s standpoint. Now I am not going to give any spoilers away here, so for those that have not read the script, well save your money for the movie :)
Now for those that read the script I have one thing to say, your imagination is not as beautiful as the picture that is being made!
I can’t really put into words what has been created the last few days, because it simply is breathtaking. I never Imagined Ethan’s place to look the way it does, nor the angles, lighting and range Mark, our DP and g-ham our beloved director are able to capture.
Now there are so many that help in this process. The art department, lighting dep. Rebecca, Mark’s amazing focus puller the list goes on. So many have contributed to not only this set but to all the others
that will be shown, as well as the location shots.
Now for the actors. Most of my scenes to date have been with our star, Tan Kheng Hua, and they have been pretty intense to date. She is such a pleasure to work with. She gives you everything she has on every take, and is such a joy to be around between takes. Her energy speaks volumes and it will definitely shine through in this piece. Her Husband as you have read, is choreographing a somewhat physical scene this upcoming week, and I must say I am glad he is there. He knows his craft and it shows.
They are the perfect couple and compliment each other very well. My hat goes off to them and their families.
As for Dickson, well what can you say, he is a joy to be around and is up to learning everything he can, from acting to the technical lingo. He has now started to sound like an AD (assistant director) (Wing look out, he might be louder than you!) when he comes on set.
It’s very amusing but also interesting to see the level of speed this child can learn. Just don’t give him any soda’s or sugar!!! It’s like the movies gremlins. They turn and so does he! :)
The Crew:
What an amazing bunch of people!!! I know I know, it sounds like I am blowing smoke up people’s asses here, but it’s the truth. We have stayed on track, and in some ways gone ahead of schedule by a couple
of shots, only because of the tenacity and speed these people work.
Some in Hollywood should take notice.
There are so many to thank and to envy where they get there stamina, that I won’t get into names but say this group as a whole works really well together.
Now on a personal note here, I have to say that having this opportunity to be in this film has been one of the most gratifying experiences in my life to date.
In some ways it’s scary because as an actor you represent in a lot of ways what is seen on film, the work that goes on behind the scenes, and if the film is liked. That being said, I want to do my best for
everyone that is there before I arrive and there after I leave. I want to give my best to our director for taking the chance and believing in me to help bring his words to life. I never forget and never will the opportunity I have here. I hope when it’s all said and
done, the audience feels connected to this character and enjoys the performance I gave.
I will write more as time goes on, but for now that’s all I can say.
Have to get up for tomorrows shoot.
