On A Personal Note

It is with great appreciation and gratitude that I sense the going-ons at the pre-preparation of CAGES the movie. Many of you have sacrificed rest, friends and family time in order to make this happen. Unexpected events happen and we need to deal with it as it comes. A person resigned suddenly and the rest need to cope with the work undone as best as we can. We need to know our roles and in order to help others, we need to know theirs so that the objectives of the movie and the 3 documentaries are met.
In the complexities of getting things done, the co-ordination among team members, the timing and the openness to truth must be foremost in our minds and hearts. We need to express our points in a compassionate and loving manner as disagreements and different viewpoints is what CAGES is about and how we decide to live and lead our lives in spite of the cages we may carry with us. Many of you may have encountered Daryl to be strict with his budget. He is performing his role to make things work and to ensure we have enough petrol to run CAGES till its conclusion and success. Discipline in spending is required for we have a vision to send a message that we care for all, even the disabled and frankly we are all disabled to a certain degree and in some areas and yet we can be wholesome as best as can be. We can perform with elegance, with sincerity and with our heart and soul.
We are making history by collaborating with the authorities in letting us film locations that are meaningful for this story. We are facing challenges getting a guest of honor for our charity event cum bird singing competition on the 12th of September at the Ang Mo Kio Bird Arena. Due to the expectation of a new Prime Minister and his team, two previous people we approached turned us down for fear they may not be in the new team and are afraid of embarrassing the event.
In CAGES, life goes on and we need to break free and use our abilities to find sponsors for the movie, events organizers and to sell booths to promote the objectives of bringing awareness of the needs of the visually challenged and to raise money for the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped’s building fund.
I know when we do our best in the interest of the larger good of society, we will become a more responsible and caring person any country will be proud to accept as a truly valuable person. Our dealings with the press conference taught us that we need to embargo news professionally and timing so as to allow the pieces to unfold and yet create excitement for the media and its audiences. I am personally disappointed that the TV shots at the press conference was not public knowledge and I can smile knowing that they have their reasons not to do so and it is just how democracy works. They decide their interests; we decide ours. Different interest will meet at some future points. Let’s smile and put good efforts in all our dealings with care and understanding.
This is my message to the people I come in contact with with regard to CAGES. I hope you will always bear this in mind as most of you have the abilities to make it happened in your life. Follow your passion and follow up on the mundane tasks of reminding yourself the RISKS, which stands for:
R – Reduce unproductive actions
I – Improve or increase certain acts
S – Stop doing certain stuffs
K – Keep doing healthy stuff for you and environment
S – Spark new actions, ideas, hobby, thinking etc…
Decide on your activities daily so we can be better each passing day. May your decisions in daily events allow you to break free from your own personal “cages” and make you glow as a person you want to be. Some of you will become close friends because you will grow to care for each other in the pursuit of CAGES the movie. I wish you well and hope you will persevere till you glow in your human environment and especially to your loved ones.
We need to be aware of the impact our actions have on our natural environment like the trees, the rivers and the ocean. We may be able to feel the connection with these and our own survival. We need to save the trees and use energy wisely. Thank you for taking time to read, reflect and apply to benefit human kind and nature.
