Through The Lens

The first time I got to see the people from Aquafire was when I was asked to help document some behind-the-scenes-shots of CAGES. That was a couple of weeks back at the Substation. I went there knowing absolutely nothing about what CAGES was about and was kind of uncertain how the session was going to be. All I knew was that Graham was going through scenes with Dickson as he writes it on his braille machine. I must say that I really got into the script as Graham and Dickson rehearsed it. What really caught me was the way the characters related to each other – sincere and heartfelt. Which was the exact same vibe that I got on Saturday when I went down to shoot some shots of Graham, Kheng Hua and Bobby.
During the press conference this morning I was very impressed at how the questions were tackled by the panel. I had to agree with Alex when he said that Kheng's speech nearly brought him to tears. What was shared was something personal about what CAGES is and it spoke to me because I can relate to it (and I believe it is the same for others). CAGES is a story of how relationships have to grow and change and how each of us has to get out of our own cages so that we don't have to sing any more sad songs.
Later that night we met for dinner and some after-dinner drinks.
After dinner drinks with those who were there was a very enjoyable time. It’s amazing to know that even though everyone has come from various backgrounds and cultures we're all working together on the same project. It is a privilege to be part of CAGES. There is a time when everyone must fly... what I'm sure is that we all took off together today.
