It has been almost 2 months working as a team for CAGES. I can tell that I have grown together with the story, in terms of perspective, and now have a better understanding of making a film. Though I am in charge of casting and am also assisting in wardrobe, I have learnt way more than what I’m supposed to. Being observant and sensitive to everything around me makes it easier for me to work with the team.
I have done a bit of commercial casting but this time round, being in charge of the casting for cages has given me a brand new take on my job. To study the characters and to find the suitable person for the role takes a little skill. Graham and Tania have given me some pointers to work with and it really benefited me. Now the cast has more or less been settled, which is a good thing because it frees me up so I can help the wardrobe side and the Art Department.
We are lucky that we managed to get some sponsorship for wardrobe and now can concentrate on sculpting the look for each cast. To me, the hardest character to dress was ALI, but I managed to get hold of a local designer that will work his expertise on her wardrobe. We are so blessed.
I am pleased to say that I managed to get a number of sponsors for CAGES, and things will be easier and lighter for everyone, especially the Art Department.
The pre-production team is like a big cage. Everyone is working so hard, rushing against time within their individual cages, nevertheless there will always be laughter in the office. At least Charm and I will be making some noise. (What’s new?!) *laughs*
Spending time in the office and looking at everyone working hard to make CAGES happen inspires me to work hard as not only as a team player but more importantly, as a family.
Slightly more than a month to go, guys be prepared to rock ‘n’ roll…
