Working with Mako

Working with Mako.
Wow...first of all, an honor. He's incredibly in tuned with his character. In some ways, he knows much more about him than I ever did...and that is me speaking as a writer.
I must admit, he hates all the techinical stuff, and the waiting that goes along with making Cages, but when he has a chance to sink his teeth into a meaty scene, I just let him go and watch the life of TAN unfold before my eyes.
He's perfect. I don't make him try anything he already isn't, in regards to his character. He's always open for suggestion, and I'll put a word in here and there, but for the most part, if he's not seeing it from the start, chances are....he's not feeling it either. Kheng Hua and him work great together. They really do feel like father and daughter. I believe their relationship.
LIZ and TAN is also a very interesting duo. Liz has this little voice...and she's so passive agressive. TAN is gentle, but has a strong sharp edge to him that sparks easily under her pressure. They really feel like an old married couple.
Dickson, during production is becoming very fond of Mako...Hey, just like in the story as well.
In many ways, all the characters were cast so perfectly.
They are who they are. Inside Mako is TAN. He brings that to the table.
